The Realignment Mindset
With the rise of social media influencers came a new way to hold powerful figures accountable for their behaviors. Cancel Culture, now synonymous with call-out culture, has empowered those with less proximity to power to advocate for themselves and others, and has motivated leaders to get ahead of the “issues” before they boil over.
A few years after the surge in DEI efforts and civil rights activism, the fear of being “canceled” has had a silencing effect inside of our organizations when it comes to navigating conflict. Though it's rare to see powerful leaders actually shamed out of their roles, leaders are afraid to say and do the wrong thing or admit mistakes, and employees are still asking for the opposite: more action and accountability.
Leaders, we have been left without an accountability tool that all levels of power align with, and we can use what we know about mindfulness to keep us on the same page during those high-heat moments. In this talk with Organizational Psychologist Kiera Penpeci, we'll get out of the rigidity of employee handbook and explore how we can:
Discuss the ways our bodies and minds respond to shame
Build confidence in our organizational behaviors and abilities to navigate differences
Inspire commitment to finding resolution to differences versus making snap or delayed decisions out of fear
Rewire your culture using a mindful approach to accountability through a Realignment Mindset.
